Those who traveled westward established the Ancient civilizations along the Indian Coastline and some might have even traveled further inside the landmass and established the Sindhu – Saraswati valley civilization. Remnants of the people who lived in those regions could have migrated to several regions. The maps given is just a schematic representations and actual landmasses could have varied and the Indian Landmass and Sunda shelf could be connected with small islands in between. This is most probably the long coastline of India lost into the sea or a part of the Sunda Shelf which is now submerged under water.

As, mentioned in the previous article ” The Vedas (Ancient Scriptures of India) describe a land known as Rutas (meaning the land of creation ) where the Sun God was worshipped, The Kumari Kandam in Sangam Literature of Tamils, the flood myths of Kalinga (Odisha ) could all be hinting at the same land. The Island nations of Indonesia, Phillipines etc were connected to the big Asian landmass and Australia was much bigger in Area. The Indian coastlines was much larger with greater area which is now submerged in the sea. Maps illustrating India, Sunda or South East Asian Islands and Australia before and after the last glacial maximum during 12000 BC aproxx. The fabled Garden Of Eden might have also been submerged then. As, it can be clearly seen there was indeed a great flooding in the region which could have given rise to the myths of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Ancient Egyptians and few North African Tribes. This is a map illustrating the Arabian Gulf and surrounding regions before and at the end of the last Glacial Ice Age at 12000 BC approx. This could have resulted in submerging of ancient cities across the world. It is estimated that 10million square miles of land got submerged in water during the last ice age.

Here, I will try to co relate those myths with real geographical and geological changes on the earth in the past and trace cultural similarities across civilizations. This part will throw more light into it.Īs, mentioned in my previous blog, Stories of the great flood are common across civilizations in different parts of the world.

In the 1st article I highlighted about Glacial Cycle, Flood myths across civilizations and submerged ancient cities. This post is in continuation to the 1st article.
